Sometimes we become confused on how to serve our Lord. What is He looking for? What does He want from me?
Does being responsible before the Lord just mean doing more for Him? Like the statement man makes, "You were saved to serve". This is a half truth. You were really saved to expereince love, the love of God. We were made to enjoy Him, forever.
In our confusion we run around trying to do things for Him. Many times this can beome just busy work. We do these things until we tire out and throw our hands up in the air.
God spoke through Isaiah, the prophet:
Isa 66:1-2
1 Thus says the LORD: "Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist," says the LORD. "But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.
What does He look for?
"But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.
God is very interested in us as human beings, not human doings. He knows that once we understand and we know Him and His heart, we will always serve Him from the heart.
God is good. He is looking for those who will understand the great gift of His Son, who was given to us. He is looking for those who will have a healthy fear of Him so they respect and carry out His will in every circumstance.
As a people, we want to "do". God wants us to "be". Spend some time before the Lord seeking to know the Blesser instead of seeking a blessing. God desires for us to love Him because He knows He loves us. All real love seeks to see love returned and expressed.
Keep things simple.
