Love

I get to go and officiate at a wedding this afternoon. Two young, Spanish people sense that they are ready to commit to each other for life. They seem ready to me, also.

We know that love is at the centre of it all. What is love?

“Love is very patient and kind,
never jealous or envious,
never boastful or proud,
never haughty or selfish or rude.
Love does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable or touchy.
It does not hold grudges and
will hardly even notice when others do wrong.
It is never glad about injustice,
but rejoices whenever truth wins out.
If you love someone you will be loyal
to them no matter what the cost.
You will always believe in them,
always expect the best of them,
and always stand your ground in defending them.
All the special gifts and powers from God
will someday come to an end,
but love goes on forever.”
1 Corinthians 13

What a great picture? Love goes on forever. Wow!

Why does love never end? Because this love spoken of is "unconditional". If something is unconditional then there can be no conditions to end it.

This is the love we are to take to our marriages. Forever love. It is not a "feeling" it is right actions. These actions produce love feelings but should not be waiting for the feelings to come before it carries on the right action. This love just continues with the right action. This love is "God love"! When we serve with this love it is impossible to be controlled by another. When we serve with this love we are set free to really live!
